A boy trapped in the body of a man. Continues to seek reality in dreams and to find one, true love. *swoons*

Sounds so Disney. Lol...
Sometimes, I don't get it.

I know some artists do commissions to earn extra income. Some do it because they love to see their fans being happy over the art. It's fine, I love to get people to commission artwork for me too.

But why is it that some artists take ages and ages to do their commissions? It can be like a year or even longer at times. I mean, don't they feel bad? It's like you are taking money from somewhere and then use it, but the interest (which is the artwork) you don't churn out for the people who love you, trust you and paid you. It doesn't snowball, so they take ages. Then, when people ask, they complain and go, "My list is very long and tedious. You are at the end, so be patient. If you like, I would return the money to you since you don't want to wait."

What I dislike most is some artists do artwork almost every week. You see them posting up "New fan work of XXX" or "My latest collab with..." or "Just wanna do something..." I know artists would get the creative itch, but why don't they channel it to their commissions? Then after that, you see them posting, "Need money urgently, so I'm selling my past works or commissions". Shouldn't they NOT ask for commissions to get money, when they already cannot complete their current list? Ain't they giving themselves more trouble?

This is very despicable, I personally think, for them to ask for more money and yet, they are not repaying those who have paid. Especially if they keep silent.

Don't get me wrong. I have met many nice commissioned artists, who give me a timeline on how soon I can expect my art. If they can't, they will take the liberty to inform me. After all, I paid for it right? They won't wait for me to ask or chase them.

So, with this post, I don't mean to flame the commissioned artists. But what I would like to know is, why do they do that? If you are a commissioned artist, can you tell me why do you, or others, keep doing other work instead of focusing on their commissioned work? Why do they keep such a long list, with seemingly no interest in following up on it, and still seek to get more money by doing more commissions? It is really baffling. So if anyone has any answers, please, enlighten me :)

Out of curiousity, do you do any superhero role-plays at all?
Hiroshi25 Featured By Owner May 4, 2014  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
What kind of roleplays? Do you mean those "physical" ones or the story-writing ones?
Geni-Tamerlaine Featured By Owner May 4, 2014
Story-writing ones.
